Another airport for Cape Town

Growthpoint Properties has entered a long-term partnership with RSA Aero to develop the Cape Winelands Airport (Icao: FWAN) into South Africa’s next major air cargo and logistics hub. The project, located 25 km from Cape Town International Airport (Iata: CPT), represents an initial investment of ZAR 8 billion (approximately USD 430 million) and will feature a dedicated cargo processing facility, warehousing, and a 450-hectare logistics etate designed to boost multimodal trade and industrial growth in the Western Cape.

Built on the site of the former Fisantekraal airfield, the new airport will include a Code 4F runway for wide-body aircraft, advanced fuelling facilities for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and a green cargo precinct targeting carbon-neutral operations. "This partnership provides the foundation to build an airport precinct of global quality that strengthens the region’s logistics and trade network," said Nicholas Ferguson, Managing Director of RSA Aero.
