Atlas Air deal brings B747 back to EL AL

After ending its own freighter operations by returning a B747-400F to its lessor and B747 operations in general, on 3 November last year, EL AL Israel Airline is about to expand its reach and cargo lift for its customers. Under the terms of an ACMI agreement, Atlas Air will operate a B747-400F for capacity on significant routes, mainly Liege (Belgium) – Tel Aviv (Israel), beginning later this month.

Ronen Spira, head of EL AL’s Cargo Division: "This strategic initiative enables us to provide our customers with a stable and high-quality operation for all types of cargo."

John Dietrich, Atlas Air Worldwide's new president and CEO: "We welcome EL AL as a new customer and look forward to supporting the airline as it continues to capture market opportunities and enhance its position as a major player in Israel’s cargo industry." (ah)
