BBC and Seaboard go climbing on the Andes
As part of their services for shippers moving cargo between the US Gulf Coast, Jamaica, and ports in Ecuador, Peru and Chile, BBC Chartering and Seaboard Marine are launching a new cooperation named the Andino service.
Beginning as early as November 2018, the partners will operate a string of at least five vessels dedicated to serving these trade lanes. BBC and Seaboard have spoken of a "cooperative space sharing arrangement".
Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering, declared: "We are providing a valuable basis for the sustainable development of these trade lanes.” Founded in 1997, the BBC fleet encompasses 140 to 180 vessels.
Seaboard Marine, with a fleet of over 30 ships, is an integrated ocean transport company that provides direct, regular sailings between North America, the Caribbean basin, Central, and South America. (kd)
