BGL urges swift realisation of planning act

Germany's Federal Association for Freight Transport, Logistics and Waste Disposal (BGL) is calling for the rapid and decisive implementation of the Planning Acceleration Act to increase the pace on bridges, roads and parking spaces in Germany. The government's plans to classify key transport projects as of overriding public interest are welcomed, as delays threaten the competitiveness of the German economy.

BGL emphasises the need to simplify, accelerate and digitalise planning procedures to repair and modernise the ageing infrastructure. Chairman Prof Dirk Engelhardt stresses that functioning transport routes are vital for the economy, supply and security. He calls on the coalition to implement the legislation swiftly and without ideological blockages, as only a robust infrastructure can ensure sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
