Biggest total cargo volume ever flown

Witnessed by about 80,000 people in Warsaw (Poland), the AN-225 landed on 14 April carrying a record cargo volume of medical supplies.

The day before, "Mriya", loaded with about 100 t of medicines, reagents for laboratory tests, medical masks and other protective materials with a total volume of about 1,000 cbm, departed from Tiānjīn (China). This is the largest volume of cargo ever to have been carried in an aircraft compartment in the history of global aviation.

The AN-225 thus joined the missions of AN-124-100 "Ruslans"of Antonov Airlines’ fleet performing charter flights to transport humanitarian and medical cargoes required to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the end of March, the Ukrainian company's fleet has transported over 1,400 t of cargoes from China to America, the Middle East and Europe, e.g. Porto, Portugal (83 t), Athens, Greece (80 t), Zaragoza, Spain (74 t), and Pardubice, Czechia (70 t). (ah)
