BLG unveils new heavylift port crane

BLG Logistics has enhanced Bremen's Neustädter Hafen with a new Liebherr LHM 550 port mobile crane, boosting capacity for project and heavylift handling. The 440-t crane was delivered from Rostock by water and transported ashore during high tide, with final setup expected to be operational within two weeks. It features a maximum lifting capacity of 154 t, extensive outreach and a shore power option for eco-friendly operations.

Named "Frank" in honour of a long-standing former chairman, the crane will permanently join the fleet and increase twin-operation lifting capacity to 280 t, enabling more efficient handling of larger, heavier loads. The port's strategic location, with over 100,000 sqm of warehousing and direct water access, supports the handling of wind turbine components and infrastructure projects, assisting the energy transition. The new crane enhances operational flexibility and demonstrates the port's ability to manage exceptional loads above 280 t, strengthening its position as a key hub for industry and renewable energy logistics.
