Canada's first hydrogen-powered delivery truck

Canada's supply chain sector has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of the country's first hydrogen-powered class 8 truck for commercial use, demonstrated in British Columbia. Supported by FortisBC's clean growth innovation fund, the project was celebrated at Loblaw's marine drive distribution centre, marking a step forward in low-carbon transportation solutions.

The truck, leased from HTEC, has completed numerous zero-emission routes between Vancouver and Squamish, gathering vital data on performance and fuel efficiency. This pilot, involving partnerships with HTEC, AMTA, BCTA, Deloitte, Transport Canada, Hyundai and others, aims to explore scalable, clean-energy freight options. Funded through various government and industry initiatives, the project paves the way for future hydrogen infrastructure and fleet development across British Columbia and Canada.
