DB Schenker expanding in Augsburg
DB Schenker is extending its presence in the Augsburg freight village (Germany) by approximately 42,000 sqm, bringing its total area to 60,000 sqm. Thus DB Schenker now has a commercial area of approximately 130,000 sqm available for its customers at the site, which primarily serves the Augsburg/Munich region.
There are around 4.5 million inhabitants in a 100 km radius of the new logistics centre, making Augsburg an ideal site from which to expand, Schenker said. The facility has a direct link to the roads A8, B2 and B17, as well as to Deutsche Bahn's railway network and a new container terminal in the freight village. Building work is scheduled to be completed by autumn this year. (ben)
