Dematic delivers AutoStore system to Belgian hospitals
Dematic has installed the first AutoStore system in the Belgian healthcare sector for Maria Middelares, a non-profit organisation. The system serves four sites near Brussels, including hospitals in Ghent and Deinze, as well as centres in Ghentbrugge and Aalter. The objective is to achieve a 30% increase in efficiency and better utilisation of smaller spaces through high-density storage.
The system, set on a 4.5 m framework capable of holding 12,000 containers, will initially include 6,000 containers, three workstations and eleven robots, with scope for future expansion. The centralised storage reduces delivery traffic and enhances the security of vital medicines and supplies. In a comprehensive European tender process Dematic justified winning the award through its impressive customised solutions, energy efficiency and high reliability, the company said.
