Direct rail access for Port of Sevilla

Spanish infrastructure manager Adif has published a EUR 22.7 million tender for the construction of a new rail access to the Port of Sevilla. The project includes a 2,485 m long supply line connecting the railway bridge over the Guadaira River with the La Negrilla freight terminal.

The direct rail access will reduce the number of goods trains passing through La Salud, Dos Hermanas and Utera in the future. The new line will also shorten access to the port by around 2.5 hours.

The inland port is located at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River and is part of the trans-European transport network (Ten-t). Construction is scheduled to take about twelve months. (ben)
