Eastern hubs gain freight power

According to logistics platform Timocom, the European transport spot market saw a sharp 25% rise in freight demand in Q3 2025 compared to the previous Q3, driven by economic recovery in Western Europe. However, available truck capacity stagnated and prices rose only slightly, as freight volumes increasingly shifted toward Eastern Europe. "France, Spain and Italy showed recovery, while Eastern markets, especially Poland, Lithuania and Romania, are reshaping the capacity balance," said Gunnar Gburek, head of business affairs at Timocom.

Lithuania recorded the strongest growth with a 35% increase, followed by Poland and Romania, whose freight offers rose by 27%. Timocom’s data shows a growing regionalisation trend, as Eastern European carriers increasingly deploy fleets domestically rather than in Western markets. (js)
