EU ICS2 postponements

From 1 September 2025, the EU’s 'Import Control System 2' (ICS2) release 3 requires 'Entry Summary Declarations' (ENS) for goods entering by road and rail.

ENS filings provide customs with shipment details before arrival, to strengthen security. However, some countries will delay enforcement under the EU derogation mechanism, giving businesses extra preparation time.

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain will allow postponements, most until the end of 2025. Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden will enforce immediately.

Trade Tech president Bryn Heimbeck said in a release that the differing timelines pose challenges but emphasised that knowledge and proven technology will help firms stay compliant. (js)
