Going live with first real-time customs updates

Cathay Cargo has become the first airline to provide real-time customs clearance updates through the "EzyCargo" platform, powered by Global Logistics System (GLS) and Iata's "ONE Record" data standard. The integration allows forwarders and airlines to view customs clearance status the moment it is issued by authorities in regions such as Europe, the USA, Canada and the UAE – eliminating delays from manual updates by ground handlers.

GLS CEO Simon Ng said the milestone "sets a new benchmark for transparent, real-time data sharing across the air cargo supply chain," while James Evans, Cathay Cargo’s general manager cargo commercial, called it "an important step toward full digital connectivity and transparency." The new feature supports pre-load clearance (Placi) and post-arrival release checks, enhancing efficiency and reducing uncertainty in global airfreight operations. (ah)
