GSP and HHN sign trans-Atlantic cargo pact

Greenville-Spartanburg international airport (GSP) in South Carolina and Frankfurt-Hahn airport (HHN) in southwest Germany have signed a partnership to strengthen cargo and passenger operations.

The airports will establish technical groups to share best practices in operations, safety, sustainability and customer service. The focus is on boosting airfreight flows between South Carolina and Rhineland-Palatinate.

HHN, which handled over 103,000 t in the first half of 2025 and benefits from a 24-hour permit, serves key EU markets, while GSP processes around 60,000 t annually with regular flights to China, Europe and Latin America. "Agreeing to work together for the betterment of our airports and regions is an exciting next step," said Dave Edwards (second from the right), CEO of GSP until January 2026. HHN managing director Ruediger Franke (second from the left) noted that the partnership "is a testament to our shared vision for growth and innovation." (ah)
