HGK Shipping shifts push boat operations to Rotterdam

Tomorrow, 1 October 2025, HGK Shipping will relocate its push boat operations from Duisburg to Rotterdam. By moving the unit from Europe's larges inland port to the continent's largest seaport, the company aims to strengthen coordination between its sites and increase efficiency. The service, managed within HGK Dry Shipping, is a vital supply link for the steel and chemical industries along the Lower Rhine.

Overall responsibility will be assumed by Jos Davidse (pictured), who joined HGK Shipping Rotterdam’s management in January after senior roles at firms including thyssenkrupp Veerhaven. CEO Steffen Bauer said the reorganisation ensures more efficient and future-oriented services. HGK Shipping, part of HGK AG, operates a fleet of around 350 vessels, carrying liquid chemicals, gases, dry bulk and breakbulk cargoes. (ah)
