Highlighting innovation in specialised airfreight

At the latest forum of the Aircargo Club Deutschland (ACD), a German platform for airfreight dialogue established in 1963, experts discussed the rising demand and challenges in specialised airfreight. From pharma and live animals to emergency shipments, the panel's members agreed on the growing need for custom solutions.

The panel included Lufthansa Cargo's Dr Jessica Braun, head of operations support handling specials; Bernhard zur Strassen, managing director of Time Matters; Andreas Seitz, managing director of DoKaSch Temperature Solutions; and Stephan Tanner, CFO of Würth Logistics.

Lufthansa Cargo transported over 3,000 horses via Frankfurt in 2024, while Time Matters continues to focus on time-critical services and onboard couriers. DoKaSch’s 'Opticooler' supports global pharma logistics, with container availability managed via international rental stations. Würth Logistics uses airfreight selectively to counter delays in ocean shipping. The experts also called for fewer impractical regulations and more digital integration with authorities, to support the sector’s innovation. (ah)
