Irs unveils digital twin
The Indian register of shipping (Irs) has launched a virtual twin solution for ships’ life cycle assessment and 3D classification, developed on Dassault Systèmes’ 3Dexperience platform. The rollout marks a step in Irs’s digital transformation, offering shipowners, operators and builders tools to connect physical and digital ship models. According to the register the technology aims to enable vessels to be assessed and managed more accurately and transparently throughout their operational life.
By integrating 3D-based classification, Irs aims to help customers deliver safer, more reliable and sustainable ships. The company excpects the virtual twin to also enhance collaboration and compliance. Irs said the initiative supports faster innovation and reinforces its goal to provide future-ready digital services. (js)
