Koala service boosts Asia-linked Victoria port

Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), Australia's fully automated port operated by ICTSI, has enhanced its Asia linkages through the revamped Koala service operated by MSC. Making its first call on 4 October with the MSC Capetown III, the service connects Melbourne directly with key Chinese and Indonesian ports, strengthening trade links with Asia. The weekly rotation includes Shanghai, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Fremantle, Adelaide and Melbourne, completing in around 35 days with seven vessels, offering exporters in Victoria reliable and direct access to major Asian markets.

VICT's cutting-edge, automated operations ensure rapid vessel turnaround and schedule consistency, providing predictable, high-frequency services. This upgrade underscores Melbourne's strategic role as a key gateway in the Asia-Australia corridor, reducing transhipment needs, improving transit times and enhancing connectivity for importers, exporters and logistics providers. VICT continues to collaborate with shipping lines to expand service options and reinforce its regional and global trade access.
