Konecranes delivers electric RTGs to Slovenian port

Luka Koper, Slovenia's sole cargo port and a key gateway to central and eastern Europe, has placed a repeat order for four additional electric rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes. This follows their 2024 order of four similar units, with delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. The new cranes will replace older diesel-powered units, offering cleaner, more efficient container handling powered by cable reel systems connected to the local grid, supplemented with onboard batteries for stack changes. Each crane will also feature Konecranes' truck lift prevention for enhanced safety.

Edvin Boskin, container terminal technical manager at Luka Koper, highlighted that the order supports their ongoing modernisation efforts, aligning with eco-efficiency goals by combining dependability with lower emissions. Philipp Reiter from Konecranes stressed that repeat orders like this accelerate port upgrades and contribute significantly to environmental targets, embodying Konecranes' Ecolifting initiative – a strategy to boost environmental benefits through electrification and sustainable solutions across their product range.
