Liege Airport signs sister airport agreement

Liege Airport and Chicago Rockford International Airport have signed a sister airport agreement at the Air Cargo South East Asia event in Singapore, marking a significant step towards strengthening transatlantic air cargo cooperation. The partnership aims to increase freighter traffic between the two hubs, pursue joint marketing and sales initiatives to attract new operators and collaborate on operational and digital projects to improve efficiency and service quality. Senior leaders from both airports emphasised their shared vision for innovation and growth, highlighting the complementary strengths of the two cargo-driven logistics platforms.

Liege Airport, Belgium's leading full-cargo airport and Europe's fifth largest, is recognised for its 24/7 operations and strong multimodal connectivity, serving 53 cargo airlines and 65 logistics companies. Chicago Rockford International Airport, the 14th largest cargo airport in the United States, hosts major operations for UPS, Amazon Air and Maersk Air Cargo, alongside passenger services and extensive aircraft maintenance capabilities. The agreement is expected to deepen cooperation, drive new commercial opportunities and further position both airports as key global logistics gateways.
