Lufthansa Cargo: more B777F and back to Miami

This week, Lufthansa Cargo launched a weekly freighter service between Frankfurt (Germany) and Miami (FL, USA), returning to South Florida after more than 25 years. Miami-Dade County mayor Carlos A. Gimenez: "We proudly welcome Lufthansa Cargo’s new freighter service. Our community already benefits from the daily world-class passenger service Lufthansa provides, and we look forward to the additional economic impact its cargo service will have on our community." Germany is Miami's top European trade partner by value (USD 2.2 billion).

All flights will utilise one of seven B777F, of which the German carrier has just ordered two more units. They will be delivered in 2020 and be based in Frankfurt. Some of the ten older MD-11F aircraft, which replaced the airline's B747F between 1998 and 2005, were substituted by B777F this year. The last MD-11F planes are expected to be withdrawn from the fleet by the end of 2020. (ah)
