Meridiam wins concession to build airport

Meridiam has signed a 30-year concession with the state of Burkina Faso for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the country's new international airport located 35 km northeast of the capital Ouagadougou in the Donsin region.

The engineering works, estimated to last 30 months, are scheduled to start at the end of 2022 after the financial transaction is closed. Meridiam is partnering with Aéroport Marseille-Provence (AMP), which will bring its expertise to the project through a technical assistance contract, and a minority equity stake in the project company.

The project, which represents a total investment of more than EUR 220 million. The new airport will replace the existing Ouagadougou-Taamsê International Airport, built in the 1960s and located in the densely populated city centre. (cj)
