mimic robotics secures $16m

Zurich-based startup mimic has secured $16 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by Elaia and Speedinvest, with participation from Founderful, 1st kind, 10X Founders, 2100 Ventures and the Sequoia scout fund. The company has now raised over $20 million to scale its frontier physical AI platform, which enables robots to perform complex, dexterous tasks beyond the reach of traditional automation according to the company. Mimic combines AI-trained robotic hands with standard robot arms to automate delicate manual assembly and logistics tasks.

"Our approach pairs AI-driven dexterous robotic hands with proven, off-the-shelf robot arms to deliver the same capabilities in a way that is much simpler, more reliable and rapidly deployable," said co-founder Stephan-Daniel Gravert. Using imitation learning and data collected from human operators, the company’s humanoid hands can autonomously adjust to a new position and self-correct actions according to mimic. (js)
