Modalis to run Dunkirk terminal
The port of Dunkirk has awarded the operation of its upcoming ferry-rail terminal to the Modalis group following a call for expressions of interest.
The facility, set to open in March 2026, will enable combined rail-road transport of trailers and swap bodies, aiming to cut road congestion and CO₂ emissions.
Located near ro-ro terminals and industrial zones, the 9.6 ha site can handle four 750 m trains a day, potentially shifting 50,000 units off the roads annually. The first international rail service will connect northern Italy to Dunkirk from the terminal’s launch. (js)
