Moldova approves pilot green lanes for AEOs and TIR-EPDs
The government of Moldova has approved a pilot project to implement green lanes for authorised economic operators (AEO) and TIR electronic pre-declarations (TIR-EPD), at all customs points of entry and exit to Moldova. The project is the outcome of a successful public-private partnership between the International Road Union (IRU)’s Moldovan member association AITA, the IRU itself, and the Moldovan customs authorities.
The new green lanes will significantly facilitate and secure trade by decreasing truck waiting times at borders, as well as reducing transport time and costs. The first border crossing point to benefit from the green lanes is expected to be the Leuseni customs office between Moldova and Romania. However, it will only be operational for exit from Moldova at the initial stage. (ben)
