Montreal Port expansion moves ahead

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has begun preparatory work for its Contrecœur container terminal, marking a key step in the USD445 million expansion. The contract for all water works has been awarded to the Canadian consortium CTCGP, formed by Pomerleau and Aecon.

Initial measures include access roads, fencing and site offices, with on-site works due to begin in exactly two weeks, on 27 October 2025. Once complete, the new terminal will add capacity for 1.15 million TEU and create around 10,000 jobs.

MPA CEO Julie Gascon said the project "moves from planning to action," strengthening Quebec’s economy while keeping dialogue with local communities. (ah)
