More forest products moved by rail in Sweden
The Swedish wood company Domsjö Fiber has closed a new transport agreement with Green Cargo. Under the deal, Domsjö Fiber’s pulpwood deliveries will be hauled by rail, a more efficient and environmentally friendly method than by road as previously.
The Swedish railfreight carrier Green Cargo now runs four to five rail shuttles a week from Storuman and Tagsjöberg in Lapland to Örnsköldsvik on the coast on the Gulf of Bothnia.
The forestry industry is largest purchaser of transport services in Sweden. Green Cargo transports some 9 million t of timber, wood products, paper, and paper pulp every year. (ben)
