More storage facilities along Mombasa-Nairobi line
Kenya Railways (KRC), in collaboration with a private partner, plans to build more cargo storage facilities along the Mombasa-Nairobi standard gauge rail (SGR) line. The aim is to speed up the goods flow out of the country's ports and ease congestion at the ICD in Embakasi, according to KRC.
Feasibility studies for the storage projects have already started. When finished, the projects will start as soon as funds are available. KCR estimates that the works on the high speed line in Kenya will take about three years to complete. (ben)
