"MSC Loreto" recently loaded and unloaded containers at the MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) at the Deurganckdock in Antwerp. With a carrying capacity of 24,346 teu, the vessel is considered to be the largest container ship in the world, together with its twin, "MSC Irina".

Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO Port of Antwerp-Bruges: "It is our ambition as a port to continue to grow in a sustainable way, with a firm finger on the pulse of the global economic situation.”

The vessel began its journey in Ningbo (China) on 19 April and departed for Felixstowe (UK) on 28 May, with a wide range of goods from raw materials to finished products, such as machinery, plastics & rubber, electronics, furniture, onboard. This arrival at the port of Antwerp “creates an excellent support base for further developments of our company,” said Marc Beerlandt, CEO MSC Belgium. (lh)
