Opening up Canada's Arctic territories

The development of the Slave Geological Province (SGP) corridor has received new Canadian federal funding. The project will receive a total of CAD 40 million (EUR 27 million) to support environmental regulatory reviews and planning studies.

The long-term vision of this project includes an infrastructure corridor that supports road, communications and hydro transmission line infrastructure and connects to a two-lane 413 km long gravel infrastructure corridor estimated to cost CAD 1.1 billion (EUR 742 million) in western Nunavut that will link up with a deep-water Arctic port creating new economic opportunities.

The SGP has significant untapped mineral potential including several defined large base metal deposits and hundreds of base metal and gold showings (372 along current proposed route alone). (ah)
