Partnership for B737-700/800 conversion

Following the rise in demand for cargo aircraft, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Aviation Group will establish a passenger to freighter conversion site to convert the B737-700/800 with Atitech, at the Italian company’s MRO centre in Naples. The site, which can convert two aircraft in parallel, will join two existing cargo conversion facilities in China.

IAI EVP Yossi Melamed (right): "Establishing the first cargo conversion site in Europe is a historical step for IAI. The company started its journey almost 70 years ago as a maintenance house for airplanes, since then IAI has become a major name in converting passenger aircraft to freighters."

Atitech president Gianni Lettieri: "We will restart the high-tech operations that were performed when the North Capodichino Plant, today Atitech, belonged to Aeronavali Venice and specialised in the conversion of DC8-DC10-MD10-MD1." (ah)
