RZD delivers tunnel drilling machine
RZD Logistics has completed the transport of a 160 t tunnel-boring machine destined for the construction of the second Kodar tunnel on the East Siberian Railway.
The oversized unit, with a diameter of 4.1 m, was dismantled for transport. RZD Logistics carried out on-site measurements, developed the routing, and prepared loading and securing plans. The service package included crane loading, road delivery from storage, rail handling, provision of rolling stock – ten gondola wagons, one universal platform, two four-axle and one eight-axle well wagons – tariff payments, unloading at Novaya Chara station and final road transport to the site.
According to project logistics director Sergey Rudnichok, meeting delivery deadlines was crucial to align assembly and drilling schedules. The TBM was delivered within 55 days. (js)
