Sany and Pony.ai gear up for autonomous truck launch
SANY Group announced the fourth-generation autonomous heavy-duty truck, co-developed with Pony.ai, is nearing mass-production readiness, aiming for commercial operations in 2026. This advancement positions China as a leader in autonomous freight, promoting a low-carbon transformation in logistics. The new model features a 400 kWh battery, expected to cut carbon emissions by 60 t annually. It boasts a fully redundant drive-by-wire chassis for improved safety, having passed extensive testing.
The 1+4 autonomous platooning system can lower freight costs by 29% and boost profits by 195%. Sany's VP highlighted the production milestone as pivotal for their digitalisation and decarbonisation strategy. The partnership, established in 2022, has successfully integrated technology and production, setting a framework for large-scale deployment and driving innovation in smart logistics solutions.
