Scania inaugurates climate test facility in Sweden
The Swedish truck maker Scania has officially inaugurated its SEK 400 million (EUR 44.7 million) climatic wind tunnel for full-size trucks and buses. Scania will use the facility, located at the research and development centre in Södertälje (Sweden) to subject test vehicles to the most demanding weather conditions on home ground, thereby speeding up development and improving performance.
Temperatures between -35°C and +50°C Celsius can be simulated in the climatic wind tunnel, as well as a humidity range of 5 - 95%. The air channel system is equipped with a number of small snow cannons to produce various types of snow. (ben)
