Shortening turnaround times

Wagon owner Ermewa, workshop and wagon builder Inveho and the French research institute for railway technology IRT Railenium have launched their joint research and innovation project Maintenance 4.0 (M4.0).

The aim is to advance condition-based and proactive maintenance and thus increase the efficiency of railfreight services. The partners will develop efficient processes to improve the safety, reliability and supply of the wagons.

They will also focus on shortening the turnaround time (TAT), i.e., the period between the malfunction of the wagon and its reintegration into the transport process, Ermewa announced. (ben)
