Skaramangas joins green award programme

Skaramangas Shipyards has been announced as the newest incentive provider in the green award programme, recognising its commitment to promoting sustainable maritime operations. Located in Piraeus, Greece, Skaramangas is the largest shipyard in the country and a vital player in the eastern Mediterranean's shipbuilding and repair industry. This partnership will offer green award certified vessels a 5% discount on various services, including dry docking, repairs and electrical services, reinforcing the shipyard's commitment to supporting high standards of quality and environmental responsibility in shipping.

Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, vice president and CEO of Skaramangas Shipyards, expressed pride in the shipyard's role in advancing cleaner maritime operations. The Green Award Foundation's executive director, Jan Fransen, welcomed Skaramangas Shipyards to the network, noting their technical expertise and significant contribution to promoting safer, more energy-efficient shipping. Established over 30 years ago, the Green Award Foundation incentivises best practices in the maritime industry, supporting various environmental, societal and governance policies aligned with the UN's sustainable development goals.
