Swissport and Xiamen Airlines active in Accra and Belgium

After many years of loss-making operations, Swissport Belgium and its subsidiary Swissport Belgium Cleaning, will file for bankruptcy and prepare to cease operations. As a separate legal entity, the group's cargo business in Brussels (BRU) and Liège (LGG) is not affected.

LGG, together with the airport serving Ghana's capital Accra (ACC), where Swissport plays a key role as a cargo handler, have been chosen by the UN World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) as logistics hubs for moving medical supplies across the world in the fight against Covid-19.

Earlier this week, ACC welcomed a B787-9 charter service operated by Xiamen Airlines. The Chinese Skyteam member covered the 12,640 km flight from Fuzhou (FOC) in 14:40 h westbound and 14:54 h on the return lag. (ah)
