Tanger Med sets new record
The Moroccan port of Tangier ended last year with a bang: in December the hub handled its 3 millionth teu - a new record that equates to a 20% increase over the 2.55 million teu that passed over the port's quaysides in 2013. The record volume means that Tanger Med is now exceeding its operational capacity.
In 2014, Tangier Med port welcomed 2,100 containerships, with 800 calls at the APMT terminal and 1,300 calls at the Eurogate terminal. These facilities saw a teu volume increase of 11% and 34% respectively.
