Transport sector remains robust – Timocom

The European transport market remains stable despite economic uncertainties in the Eurozone, according to Timocom’s latest ‘Transport Barometer’.

The second quarter saw a 23% increase in freight offers compared to the previous year, signaling sustained demand for transport services.

Germany and Austria experienced notable growth in freight offers, with Germany seeing a 32% increase, driven by strong export-related transport and post-tariff adjustments.

In Austria, freight offers rose by 35%, reflecting a surge in local transport. However, capacity remains tight, with freight-to-space ratios averaging 80:20 in Q2.

Despite economic concerns, including stagnating growth in many EU countries, demand for transport services is expected to remain strong through the summer. Freight rates in Europe have increased, with average costs between 1.45 €/km and 1.66 €/km. While economic forecasts for 2025 are mixed, transport needs are set to persist.
