US short line railroad refurbishes 37 timber bridges

The Coos Bay Rail Line (CBRL) in the USA has concluded USD 2.3 million repair and rehabilitation work on 37 timber bridge structures along its 215 km long line. The US class III railroad is based in the county Oregon and is owned and operated by the Port of Coos Bay.

The railroad provides connections to the North American railway network for manufacturing operations in Coos, Douglas, and Lane Counties, and for marine terminals in the Coos Bay harbour. CBRL currently supports ten shippers who use the rail line to move cargo daily.

Project work included replacement and structural repairs of bridge parts as well as surfacing and tamping of track at timber bridge approaches. (ben)
