Use of pharma containers axes CO2 emissions
Skycell's active cooling airfreight containers almost halve CO2 emissions per air cargo shipment. Myclimate, the internationally renownedclimate protection partnership, compared the Swiss company Skycell's "2500" and "1500" (pictured) containers with a commonly used competitor's product in a comprehensive life-cycle analysis.
The CO2 footprint on typical cold chain routes was analysed, as were the emissions ensuing from the manufacturing process up to the decommissioning of the containers.
"From our analysis, we conclude that CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced with containers, such as those from Skycell, that are optimised for weight-volume ratio," says Dr Bettina Kahlert, leader resource efficiency at Myclimate. (ah)
