Utair planning Ufa–Vienna service

Utair Aviation launched a second Vienna route today, 3 June. The Russian airline, which is under substantial financial pressure, launched a flight from Moscow Vnukovo airport two years ago, and has now added a twice-weekly Boeing B737-500 service from Ufa, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, 100 km west of the Ural mountains.

The Ufa–Vienna service, which will be operated to the end of August, will offer the only connection to a significant European hub, as Czech Airlines has terminated its flights between Prague and Ufa. (ah)
