Volvo passes lorry milestone

Volvo Trucks has announced that more than 1 million connected trucks now operate worldwide, all able to access the company’s digital services.

"Using connected services, we can support our customers and drivers in many ways – optimising uptime, lowering energy use and making operations safer and more efficient," said Jan Hjelmgren, senior vice-president for product management at Volvo Trucks.

The services focus on two areas; uptime and productivity. Remote monitoring, predictive maintenance and over-the-air software updates aim to help reduce downtime and keep vehicles in service. Productivity tools include fleet management and planning systems. "Connectivity is an important part of the transformation of this industry," said Hjelmgren. (js)
