Young leaders of the sea

Two cadets from the 'MOL Magsaysay maritime academy' (MMma) in the Philippines have been recognised among the country’s ‘Top 10 outstanding maritime cadets’. The event, held in Quezon City, marks the first time cadets from a privately operated maritime academy co-founded by a Japanese shipping company have achieved this distinction according to the company. Marine transportation cadet Princess Dianna Marrey B. David was commended for her leadership potential, while marine engineering cadet Kurt Neo G. Dizon was honoured for his resilience and communication skills.

The national recognition programme, supported by the Maritime industry authority (Marina), involves around 80 academies across the Philippines. MMma’s success follows its performance in last year’s maritime schools assessment program, where it ranked second nationwide. (js)
