114,000 t of CO2 emissions saved

Swedish carrier Green Cargo has been transporting freight for the Nordic energy group St1 across Sweden for 25 years. During this period, almost 11,000,000 t of freight were delivered from St1 in Gothenburg to depots in Jönköping and Karlstad.

Through 25 years of transporting cargo by rail rather than road or sea freight, St1 and Green Cargo have reduced the climate impact by a total of 114,000 t of CO2 emissions.

Transporting freight via rail is also the more space-efficient alternative, Green Cargo said. Within this partnership, St1 has so far delivered 3,500,000 t of freight via rail between Jönköping and Gothenburg. This is equivalent to 125,000 trucks and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 98% for this route. (ben)
