14 modified A330 operated by China Eastern Airlines


On 5 June 2020, China Eastern Airlines (CEA) operated its 22nd "passenger to cargo" flight to Italy, fully loaded with over 20 t of supplies. As of May, CEA performed 4,000 flights involved in humanitarian missions, carrying 23,000 medical personnel and 10,000 t of medical supplies among 20 countries across the globe, 200 t to Italy since the first international relief flight exactly three months ago.

 

CEA performed 300 cargo flights per week recently. The Shanghai-based carrier has transformed 14 A330 passenger planes by removing seats and thus doubling the original 90 sqm space. As the main aircraft type on the route between Europe and China, the modified A330 increase their importance during the special time. In total, CEA transported 2,000 t of medical supplies to 20 European airports. (ah)
