15 parcel sorting centres planned by 2030

Swiss Post is moving closer to households and businesses in the greater Basel area with the opening of its new CHF 75 million regional parcel centre in Pratteln (BL). The new facility enables the company to sort up to 10,000 parcels an hour, allowing it to process the items more regionally and deliver them in a more eco-friendly way.

With the opening of the site, Swiss Post is creating around 50 additional jobs in the municipality. Up to 350 Swiss Post staff in Pratteln will combine considerable logistics expertise under one roof.

The Pratteln regional parcel centre is the first of a total of three sorting facilities that Swiss Post will put into operation in 2023. The Wallisellen (ZH) regional parcel centre will be added to Swiss Post’s logistics network in June, to be followed by another regional hub in Härkingen (SO) in September. Swiss Post is planning have a maximum of 15 parcel sorting facilities in operation by 2030. (ben)
