20 candles for European railway network

The Netzwerk Europäischer Eisenbahnen (network of European railways, NEE) celebrated its 20th birthday yesterday, 2 November 2020. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the originally planned jubilee event with a political debate was postponed to summer 2021.

Headquartered in Berlin, NEE is an association of currently 73 members comprising railfreight companies and associated firms that are not owned by the German state.

Founded as "Netzwerk Privatbahnen", NEE, in cooperation with mofair and other partners, and its European umbrella organisation ERFA (European railfreight association), campaigned for the elimination of obstacles in the German railfreight market.

Now there is a non-discriminatory access to the network and an open market for traction power supply, and “the exchange of views within the network has promoted highly professional managers." (amh)
