21 countries for green corridors

On 10 November 2021, 22 countries signed the so-called Clydebank Declaration for the development of carbon-free 'green' corridors for maritime transport. The signing occurred during the Climate Summit COP26 in Glasgow. USA, Japan, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, UK, Australia and Spain were among the countries to join the agreement.

This declaration establishes the objective of developing at least six 'green' corridors by the middle of this decade, when the signatories plan to carry out an evaluation. In the longer term, the countries plan to increase the number of routes, lengthen them and open them to more vessels. (sh)
