85% of Asia-Pacific SMEs optimistic
According to a new FedEx survey on trade relations between Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, 85% of SMEs in the region are confident about future business with Europe. Furthermore, 87% of European SMEs expect their trade balance to shift in favour of exports to the APAC region or to remain at current levels. Over 1,200 European and 850 APAC SMEs provided insights, with 76% of European firms reporting increased exports over recent years, especially from the UK, Germany, and France. For 2026, many see China as the most promising growth market, along with India, Japan and South Korea.
Despite optimistic forecasts, companies also highlight regulatory changes, customs procedures and market volatility as ongoing challenges. FedEx is responding by expanding flight networks and digital solutions to facilitate cross-border trade. The survey reveals a strong mutual optimism and growing trade volumes between Europe and APAC, presenting opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises on both sides.
